XTMF301 - Managing the TMP Environment
|
|
This two-day course begins with the basic concepts of TMF, including business
transactions, audited files, locking, audit trails, dumps, and recovery. It
then covers the planning and configuring of the TMF subsystem. Students will
learn how TMF should be monitored to confirm smooth operations, and how it can
be dynamically reconfigured should problems arise. File dumping and file
recovery are covered in detail.
In labs, students will explore TMFCOM and Snoop, learn how to manage a tape
library, perform a dump and file recovery, and monitor volumes, audit trails,
and transactions. Several TACL routines are included with the course to
expedite TMF management.
Managing the TMF Environment is based on the G06.20 version of NSK, so the
changes in G06.17 TMFCOM are included.
If you use RDF, this course can be conveniently paired with PLRDF301 - Managing
the RDF Environment, which is a three-day course. Scheduling the two
courses in the same week (with TMF first) will provide students with a complete
picture of the closely integrated TMF and RDF environments.
Course Duration: 2 days (on-site)
NonStop system managers, operators, and database administrators. Programmers
who develop TMF-based code will also benefit from deeper insight into the TMF
subsystem.
TMF protects your most valuable application data. Make sure this
critical NonStop product is properly configured and correctly monitored. Should
audit trails threaten to fill, be certain you can respond effectively to keep
transactions active. Should data be lost or corrupted, ensure you can respond
quickly to minimize damage and to restore full application functionality. This
course is designed to meet these vital needs.
Students should have approximately one year experience with NonStop
system management, including some exposure to TMF. There is no course
prerequisite.
